Study Plan for the Entrance Quiz #5

For the next entrance quiz you need to be familiar with all the concepts we discussed today in the lab (described in the Lab Guide, Lab #5 part 2 and Lab #6), as well as you should know definitions and be able to recognize on pictures from your text the 5 items marked with (*) in the guide for the Lab #7.

Here's my suggestion for how you could divide the study material between different days of the week:

Tuesday            –   Review Brain Meninges; learn the five (*)
Wednesday      –  Spinal Nerves and Spinal Plexuses
Thursday         –  Cranial Nerves (names, origin, whether sensory/motor/both function) + Parasympathetic Function of CN III, VII, IX and X
Friday               –  Cranial Nerves (sensations perceived and/or structures innervated for all twelve nerves)
Saturday          –  Review what you learned on Tue and Wed
Sunday             –  Review what you learned on Thu and Fri
Monday            –  Come to the lab and ask questions at the Open Lab Review (The Lab will be open on Monday before the Tuesday classes, but it will be closed on Monday during the Spring Break week);

Remember that it's better to study 30-60 minutes 5-6 times a week than to try to learn all the material the day before the quiz!

Enjoy the spring break and see you in two weeks!

Here are the types of questions that you can expect on the next entrance quiz:
  1. Which nerve innervates X?
  2. What kind of nerves (sensory - S, motor – M or both - B) can you find in:
    a) X
    b) Y
    c) Z
  3. What sensations are perceived and/or what muscles/glands are innervated by XXX nerve?
  4. What is the origin of the following nerves:
    a) XXX
    b) YYY
  5. What kind of function (sensory - S, motor - M or both - B) have the following nerves:
    a) XXX
    b) YYY
  6. What sensations are perceived and/or what muscles/glands are innervated by the YYY nerve?
  7. What is the parasympathetic function of the ZZZ nerve?
  8. Name the nerve that innervates the XXX. From which plexus does it originate?
